    Past Recipients



    The following grants were awarded in March 2002:

    Recipient: Sequatchie Valley Institute at Moonshadow
    Amount awarded: $100.00
    Project: Grant was given to fund scholarships for their “Food for Life” workshop which gives instruction on organic gardening, food preservation, medicines and nutrition as well as discussion on the social and ecological implications of industrial agriculture.

    Recipient: The Lion and Lamb Project
    Amount awarded: $1000.00
    Project: Funding was given to provide scholarships for people to attend the trainer’s seminar. Those who attend these seminars are able to return to their home towns and host workshops to help parents understand how violence is marketed as entertainment to children, and what parents can do to protect their children from these media messages.

    Recipient: Campaign for Labor Rights
    Amount awarded: $500.00
    Project: The Degen grant was awarded for continuing work with their Rapid Action Network. In this way, they are able to mobilize people on labor issues and elicit action from people in the form of letter writing, calls and emails.

    Recipient: Tennessee Industrial Renewal Network
    Amount awarded: $500.00
    Project: TIRN received a grant to go towards their Fair Trade and Globalization’s Worker Exchange Program. This enables Tennessee workers to travel to other countries to discuss working conditions and the goal of fair trade and global economic justice at the local level.
