Be the change!
"You must be the change you want to see in the world." Mahatma Gandhi
Believing that we can and will change our world for the better, CCJP encourages you to “Be the Change” by taking a pro-active approach when confronted with circumstances that impede justice and peace in your community, culture, and the world.
To email your senator or representative about an issue, go to www.congress.org for contact information.
To receive Be the Change updates about current issues as they arise, send an e-mail with “Be the change” in the subject line to sllytle@blomand.net. Indicate if you are a Tennessee resident to receive updates specific to local issues.
Read on to learn about a few things you can do right now to Be the Change!
- Each year 19 billion catalogs are mailed to American consumers. That translates into
53 million trees and 3.6 million tons of paper. The energy to produce that volume of paper
would power 1.2 million homes each year and exacerbates global warming by contributing 5.2
million tons of carbon dioxide emissions, the annual equivalent of 2 million cars. To curb
the deluge and eliminate unwanted catalogs you receive by mail go to
http://www.catalogchoice.org/.
- To learn about what you can do to stop the marketing of violence to children visit
the website of The Lion & Lamb Project at http://www.lionlamb.org/index.htm.
- For information on socially and environmentally conscious investing and giving visit
the New Progressive Coalition at http://www.newprogressivecoalition.com/.
